Come Play with Clay this Summer!
Clay creations is a studio that has been offering youth classes and summer camp for over 20 years. We love teaching kids about clay and helping them get creative! At Clay Creations we believe it is more important than ever for our youth to have a creative outlet.
Throughout our program we teach students to throw on the potter’s wheel, build projects with coils, slabs and create sculptures of their choice! We have a very small student teacher ratio to give children amazing support as they explore the medium. Across our summer camps, we witness students building self stem, confidence, and lasting friendships along the way. Plus they have the opportunity to bring their pieces home to be enjoyed for years to come! Many children come back year after year and we continue to increase their skills and understanding in clay. If students come for more than one week in the summer we will give additional project ideas for them to choose from to help encourage their growth and exploration of clay.
We hope your children will have great memories of their experience at Clay creations as it’s important to us!
What to Bring?:
- Snack (Food will be provided on Friday)
- Water
- Layers of clothing in case the studio is chilly.
On the last day of camp we will have woodfired pizza on site with fresh homemade sourdough. Please let us know if your child is gluten free or has any other dietary restrictions.

Come learn the fundamentals of Soda Firing at our Atmospheric Firing Center in San Gregorio!
In this workshop we will discuss clay bodies, wadding, and learn about the science of soda firing. Each slot offers 1 cubic foot of firing space and access to 6 of our flashing slips, 3 glazes, and our oxides. This workshop is specifically designed for potters who are new to atmospheric firing or those who have experience and want to have access to our range of materials.

Visiting Artist Workshop

Workshop Schedule
9am-3pm (with a 1 hour lunch break)
Day 1:
Participants will bring their bisqued pieces to the workshop and will spend the morning slipping pieces and applying liner glazes. Casey will discuss the importance of kiln placement and the pieces will be loaded into the kiln and then the firing process will begin.
Day 2:
Casey will continue firing with participants and discuss various soda firing techniques throughout the firing. Once soda is sprayed, the kiln will be soaked and a slow cooling will begin.
Day 3:
Demonstration Day. Casey will demonstrate a variety of forms on the wheel, ranging from pitchers, to stemware, plates, and cups. He will also demonstrate how to add hand built elements to thrown pieces, along with his techniques on using hump molds.
Day 4:
Kiln unloading, debriefing, discussions, and cleaning.
