Soda Firing Workshops
Come learn the fundamentals of soda firing at our Atmospheric Firing Center in San Gregorio! In this workshop, we will explore clay bodies, wadding, and the science behind soda firing. Each participant receives one cubic foot of firing space and access to six of our flashing slips, three glazes, and our oxide materials. Please note that each cubic foot of kiln space is allotted to one participant only.
This workshop is designed for potters who are new to atmospheric firing, as well as those with prior experience who would like access to our materials and facilities. We look forward to hosting you and answering any questions you may have about soda firing.
Note: For safety and space considerations, only enrolled participants are permitted on site during the workshop and loading days; guests are not allowed during these times. That being said, guests are welcome to attend the kiln unload!
*Please remember that your pieces must be fired to Cone 10 before attending our loading day*
Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel more than 30 days prior to the workshop, we will provide you with the current waitlist so you may contact someone to fill your space. Any payment arrangements will be handled directly between you and the new participant.
Within one month of the workshop date, we’re unable to make any changes to the roster at this time, including refunds or rescheduling. We understand that things come up and we always do our best to fill open spaces; however, at this point we’re unable to offer refunds for cancellations.
Soda Firings (Firing Only)
These firings are intended for potters with prior soda-firing experience. Each registration includes one cubic foot of kiln space. Wadding will be provided on the morning of load day; please bring your work already glazed and ready to fire.

Come learn the fundamentals of Soda Firing with your own private group at our Atmospheric Firing Center in San Gregorio! Please bring your *already* bisqued cone 10 pieces with you.
This hands-on workshop is designed for potters who are new to atmospheric firing, as well as those with experience looking to explore our range of materials. Together, we’ll load your work into our Soda Gas Kiln and dive into the art and science behind this unique process. Throughout the workshop, we’ll cover clay bodies, wadding, and the chemistry of soda firing. Each booking includes 12 cubic feet of kiln space and access to our onsite flashing slips, glazes, and oxides.
Loading Day:
We’ll start the day with an overview of the process, then move into glazing, wadding, and loading the kiln.
Unloading Day:
Participants will help unload the kiln and discuss results, techniques, and surfaces. We’ll finish by resetting the kiln site together—grinding and washing shelves, and tidying up the workspace.
