Soda Firing Workshops
Come learn the fundamentals of soda firing at our Atmospheric Firing Center in San Gregorio! In this workshop, we will explore clay bodies, wadding, and the science behind soda firing. Each participant receives one cubic foot of firing space and access to six of our flashing slips, three glazes, and our oxide materials. Please note that each cubic foot of kiln space is allotted to one participant only.
This workshop is designed for potters who are new to atmospheric firing, as well as those with prior experience who would like access to our materials and facilities. We look forward to hosting you and answering any questions you may have about soda firing.
***Please remember that your pieces must be fired to Cone 10 before you join for our loading day***
Note: For safety and space considerations, only enrolled participants are permitted on site during the workshop and loading days; guests are not allowed during these times. Guests are welcome to attend the kiln unload.
Exciting news: Beginning in November, we will incorporate a small amount of wood into our soda firings. The amount of wood used will depend on weather conditions.
